  3. Dear guyz, here is a tip for you based on my experience with RISABASE, the only software (reliable) i was able to find to analyse biaxial moments and concrete anchorage design for baseplates. I found a very strange problem in it! while working in Metric units...so please always work in imperial units other wise you will be mislead here is the summary of my long conversation with risabase guyz...at last they accepted their mistake and promised to remove it next version..unfortunately they are releasing next version at the end of this year! -------------- From: Support [mailto:support@risatech.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2012 8:41 PM To: Waseem Sarwar Subject: RE: Inquiry about Risabase calculations Waseem, I am seeing a problem with this. I have written this up as an issue and we will make sure this is fixed for version 3 of RISABase, due out later this year. Thanks for your persistence on this. 8. When you do commercial design in Pakistan, not every bldg has a super construction team. Considering local practise, the best thing is to keep you seismic parameters of the zone you are in and use a lower R Value. This would be little over design but safe.

  13. True, Its important to know if its equilbrium torsion or compatibility torsion. If you know that you can decide the level of risk you can take by not doing calculations.

  14. right way is to put torsional bars and distribute based on width to height ratio along sides of the beams and also at top and bottom of the beam. but some times if it is very less...we put just add it to top and bottom of the beam as the section may not be so deep! but ofcourse you cannot ignore equilibrium torsion...there is another torsion called compatibility torsion! just search in ACI you will find the terms!

i am working for the installation/execution/construction of over head transmission lines. it is only good for those who can travel minimum 300 km/day, believe in long distance relationships and having only half of brain active. for consultancy, the issues are very technical and are very romantic to handle
