  2. Assalam-o-alaikum! 1. There may or may not be any difference between the two (cracked and licensed), depending upon type of software cracking used. While you can rely and depend upon the analysis / design results in case of a licensed software , but not in case of cracked software (nobody will take responsibility for that), even if there is no difference of results. This is because of the fact that use of cracked software is incorrect ethically as well as legally. You cannot defend or justify use of such software, for the design of real-life structures, in a court of law. 2. CSI has several kind of licenses. I am sure, there will be one fulfilling requirements of your organization, too. 3. See answer to your question 1 above. Regards.

  3. 1. There is no difference but you should not use the cracked versions. This is unethical and unprofessional too. 2. You contact sales dept of CSI for this. They would be more than happy to sell their products.

    Diaphragms In Etabs

Can anyone tell me while assigning the diaphragm when we have to choose the semi rigid or rigid. What exactly it does with the structure in ETABS? As far my understanding I am applying rigid diaphragm for concrete structure and semi-rigid for steel structures / car park structures. Regards

  5. @raNA SIR you mentioned above "apply torsion modifier for beams = 0.35" is it right? isnt it 0.01?or it depends on the designer to select at his disposal?

    Diaphragm

Diaphragms connect all individual members into a seismic force resisting system. If you have concrete floors, it is imperative that your floor will do the above mentioned job plus distribute the seismic load to all the connecting members too. Diaphragms can be rigid or flexible depending upon their stiffness. For practise in Pakistan, if your flooring is type conc slab > 5" consider your diaphragm to be rigid. A rigid diaphragm distributes forces to connecting members based on connecting members stiffness, where as a flexible diaphragm distributes loading based on tributary areas of supporting members to diaphragm. Take diaphragm as a frame that connects all members, and makes them act together.
