After the earthquake of 26th october , our attention went to emergency exit steel staircase which by no means can be termed as safe plz see the attached report. the main cols have been placed on earth without any foundation steel members are under size members are not straight . can this be retrofitted ? how? waiting anxiously for a solution by so many good SE engineers lets see who has the knowledge to do it!!!!!!!! How To Define Wind And Seismic Loads In Staad Pro
shani2k2 replied to shani2k2's topic in Software Issues
Thanks a lot my problem is that i am modelling a simple T-support(2.6 meter high and .225m at both side at the top) while wind definition i calculate as per AISC which generate wind intensities from zero to 4.5 meters now when i add wind load and give verical range from zero to 2.6m(ht of support) i get warning wind load cannot be generated, so i make the vertical from 0 to 4.5m(intensity of second point in the intensity table) the load is assigned this is confusing. second point is for seismic definition what do i add one is self weight , etc- 3 replies

PCC is 1:2:4 and i would say more than 3000 psi

AOA i would like to have some comments or paper for steel supports single T-supports coming on PCC pad of 200mm thick the T-support is 1) between 2.5-3 meters 2) load is around 10kn vertical and 3kn thrust would it be ok to just use hilti anchor for base plate of support as the area of PCC is large more than 5 meters or would it require RCC foundation Regards

Hi all i need to have a discussion on this topic which is the specifications allow maximum concrete temperature at time of placement 32C where as the temperature of the concrete which is sampled for mix design of concrete is 27C in my view this does not depict the actual condition in which temperature will remain around 32C hence more requirement of water thus decreasing strength, therefore in my view if the design mix cubes were made at the concrete temperature of 32C the cement content required would have been more for a selected W/C ratio of say .45
