High rise buildings with simply supported beams ? imagine masonry columns with beams resting on them, or building structure having columns with corbels, beams rested on corbels. Beam section will be heavier than MRF beams, too much dead weight due to heavy sections.

Salam, Adding my cent to the BAZ's response, intuition: your basic understanding, visualization, imagination, observation: observe different structural system around you, man-made and natural, observe how they sustain different kind of loads successfully, observe how seniors are tackling different problems, observe and investigate failures of structural members or structures, imagine how structure will fail reading: read about structural materials, understand their properties and behaviors, weaknesses and benefits, understand their mechanics under loads, read structural analysis and structural design books talking: talking or thinking aloud, discussing with colleagues and fellow structural engineers, this builds confidence and clarity in concepts, if you can not talk about a concept its understanding is unclear yet. @Badar (BAZ) please correct if anything added wrong. Salam, Structural designing is not output of software, join some structural consultancy and work under some senior structural engineer, supervised structural practice is basic step in structural designing. You have field experience its a plus for you for understanding the construction limitations. Regards

Salam, No university is best without your own interest, basically engineering is a mindset i.e LIFE LONG LEARNER, engineers from different Pakistani universities are doing wonderful jobs throughout world, here in this group most members are structural engineers and working worldwide. NUST, NED, UET Taxila, UET Lhr are all good universities.

Omer, time period could be different for buildings, there is no restriction on time period, 0.2 and 1 are reference to develop the spectrum.

I tried with geotech but its unfortunate i could nt get much support, i approached some geotech firms around but every geotech has its own logics and ram leela. @Simple Structures thank you very much for an elaborate reply. some of the basis is shared by Umar and Simple, and some study of subgrade reaction which depends on settlement in the denominator, towards edges settlement decreases and subgrade increases. Dont have any exact basis but some engineering judgement. Regards

for pressure i learnt subgrade reaction can be increased by 20 percent as compared to central part.

Salam, I have a raft modeled in Safe based on Etabs, edges show too high stresses and soil pressure, i have reasonable offset from the column grids. How i could resolve this issue. Thank you in Advance.

Salam Abbas, 1- You can do curtailment if your analysis support it but 50 percent curtailment is unrealistic. 2-You can splice any bar size with any bar size, lap length requirement will be as per greater bar size. Regards
