  1. Thanks for your previous response Rana. It was very helpful. I am also looking for a formula that tells me how much counterweight is needed, at different distances, at the base of this structure to support 100kg (i.e. how do I find the answer to (a) and (b)). CantileverWeight3.pdf
  2. I am looking for a formula that tells me how long the "foot" (x) has to be if there is an offset (by 1000mm) weight (100kg) on the end of the free standing structure which is 2500mm tall. CantileverWeight2.pdf
  3. I'm trying to find a simple formula (if there is one) for calculating how much weight is needed to hold up an offset weight as shown in the image. I'd like to know, in theory, how much weight is needed at the base directly in the center of the vertical support, therefore taking counterweights out of the equation. Imagine this is an offset sun umbrella or a free standing basketball hoop with a weight hanging from the end furthest away from the vertical support. CantileverWeight.pdf
