Dear Experts! What are the methods for temporary retaining of the soil before construction of retaining wall? I am going to construct a retaining wall to retain the road in a hilly area, where the soil is very loose. How does temporary retain the soil before construction of retaining wall? The height of the proposed retaining wall is 33 Feet.

Assalam O Alikom Engineers! I hope you will be safe and sound. I am facing difficulties in estimation of Block Masonry as I don't know the constants of Estimation for such Masonry. There are several reasons e.g In the calculation of brick masonry in Pakistan, we consider 30 percent of mortar is required, so How much in Block Masonry, the second reason, There is no constant size in Pakistan, so If size is changed what will be its effects on the usage of mortar? Moreover, How much blocks are required in 1 cubic foot? such as in brick masonry 13.5 bricks are required.

Okay Major. I want to define the Masonry wall in ETABS, so will I select the indian code there?, and what is the modulus of elasticity of brick wall in Pakistan

Assalam O Alikom! Dear Friends! I would like to design an isolated footing for a four-story building is Hilly area, I have modelled the frame and Now I am gonna design footing, for that, I made a load of of service loads that is (DL+LL) to find the base reactions on services load and then after running analysis, I display the support reactions. But there are three options shows on table, 1. Min 2. Max 3. Absolute Max. so which one reaction should I consider for desinging the footing, If I take the Max, then what is the Min reaction as (DL+LL) should give 1 constant value.

Design and Modelling of Elevator in ETABS

Dear Major! How will I apply the UDL over the walls of the Elevator? There are three options in assigning a load to a building component as shown in the attached picture i.e Shell, Frame, and Point load, then how will I apply the load over the walls? I have an idea for applying UDL over walls. If I draw the beams over the top of the wall and apply the UDL load over the beams as shown in the attached picture. Is it the right approach? or I should find another way? -
Dear Hamad! It would be better if you share your CV with your friends or even me as we are helping each other over here on this platform, I will let you know if there is a good opportunity. My friends are working there in Pakistan and they are happy. As Umar Told you that Job hunting is a bit frustrating here but Pakistan is the land of opportunities and you will find the job very soon. Just keep searching Indeed.com, Jobz.pk, Paperpk.com, Mustaqbil.com, Rozee.pk etc. these websites are very popular in Pakistan for Job Searching.

Respected Engineers! I am gonna design a 4 stories residential building in seismic zone 3 where I provided 1 elevator. I have done the modeling of the building and elevator. But I need help about the elevator loading. I contacted Elevator manufacturing companies and told him the size of elevator i.e 6' x 6', they told me that a total load of elevator plus machinery will be 6 tones, and I added the maximum load of occupants as 1 tone which collectively becomes 7 tones load. Now I need your help in the application of load over the walls in ETABS and how to check its stability or crack analysis? How do I consider this load, Dead load, Live Load or somewhat dynamic load? I am also gonna attach the screen short of ETABS model for better illustration. Please suggest me some tutorials or explain it in detail over here. Thanks in advance.

I am gonna design a four-story building where the maximum grid found is 12' x 40' slab. Is it feasible practically without any mid beam (only sides beams)? Is there any restriction if ACI?

Hello, Dears! I have just designed a building in ETABS and preparing detailed drawings, I have an issue about, how can I overlap different sections of columns as shown in the attached picture. Is it possible or not? if yes, then how?
