  1. Hi, I am new to the steel design. I have to design a hall of 40ftx 70ft , hence I have provided 6 nos of RCC columns at 14ft span of 4m height at GF. I have separately done roof truss design and assigned the rxn to the columns. But I am confused regarding beam and connections. Here goes my list of doubts and confusion a) Since, the beam length will be 40ft in X - direction, is it ok to just provide tie-beam only connecting columns in Y-direction? b) Also, how to connect steel roof truss with RCC column? c) since, there is wall on the edges of hall of 4m height, the load coming on plinth beam is too much, resulting in higher axial load and hence steel in column below GF. Is it even required to provide masonry load and beam at first place? Isn't soil underneath able to take up the load of masonry on its own? Please help me with this. I have been trying to do it all day but stuck with this.
