Seismic Design Guide For Masonry Buildings

Nice book.... -
you have add shearwall.. or increase the size of column.... change the framing to satisfy the drift value under allowable... your model of "center of mass and center of rigidity" should be as near as possible.... due to this... your model torsional irregularities and drift will become under limit.

Aslamualikum: I want to ask that, in ETABs, when we define slab, I put slab thickness same in MEMBRANE & BENDING, is it right or wrong? and what is difference b/w shell, membrane, plate and thick plate? and how and when we use these ? read out help topic in ETABs. But i could not understand.. Can anybody explain me in bit simplest way.?

which option is select (in preference option for live load reduction)... like tributary area, influence area, minimum factor, application , column etc..
-
Ok... One thing more..... what is Live load reduction in preference "option" ? is there any relation with static load cases or not? and when this option applies and where? and why?
-
we have to change live load factor "in load combination " to 0.5 , when we do reducible live load " in static load cases" or not?
-
in static load cases, I just put "reducible live load" or will have to do some other options...?
-
I did not got ur point... how it applies ? and what are the condition? In my point of view there is no link b/w reducible live load "in preference option" and reducible live load "in static load cases".?
-
Asalamualikum: what is difference b/w reducible Live load and Non-reducible live load(LIVE)in static load cases option? when we use these and what are the condition to use these?
-
yes happy....Jazakallah..... I will wait for your reponse...

link you attached.. i already studied... if you dont mind kindly explain me step by step by picture or as u like....

Because I am beginner user of SAP as compared to ETABs and SAFE. I want to model attached dome on SAP. But for inclined column, I have to draw grid lines. How i draw. masjid dome plan.dwg masjid dome elevation.dwg

I didn't use SAFE 12. I am talking about SAFE v.8. I want to ask that on 30" thick raft foundation, can we place 39" thick drop on it? if I remove 30" and place only 39" then again punching increase by 1 also soil pressure increases.?

when ever I draw model on safe v.8. If punching shear ratio of raft foundation exceed. for example: If punching ratio of column on raft foundation 30" thick is 1.6, then I draw an other 10'x10' slab with same property in 30" thick raft with 33" on that particular column which have punching ratio 1.6. It wil come to 1.3 punching ratio.. then 36" and 39", after that punching ratio will come below 1. But when ever I remove 30" thick raft on that column then draw only 39" thick raft, i am facing same punching ratio problem. I did'nt understand what criteria SAFE is following..
