  1. Hi guys. I'm wondering, how do you usually model induced displacement to determine the internal forces generated by the displacement? I'm using STAAD.Pro now and I used node displacement in the loading, but it did not generate any forces. A little background would be, the covered court truss, made up of angles, was forced to meet the other truss, which was 200mm away. Now, the whole structure is skewed. I'm the one who is going to study the effects and retrofit it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. can I say that you can assign any type of connection (welded or bolted) to any joints? then it would be up to the engineer to design this connection if it could take shear, tension, and moment? for example, you can implement a welded connection to act as a pin if it can take the forces but not the moment.
