    It depends on aspect ratio of slab, span length, and geotechincal conditions.One may require main reinforcement in both directions, as empty situation also needs to be considered( bottom slab loaded by soil pressure due to self weight of slab / water pressure if water table is high). Direction of hook (upside or downside) does not matter,hook is for anchoring( in case bond fails).

    a bar in centre will be useless as rft is needed for taking tension. One can use 4 bars and use rectangular ties.

    joggle is bending scheme to accomodate another bar so that both are in one plan.Why would one need joggle in slab? Sure it can be done but will increase the quantity of steel with respect to using normal lap.

    Use TNO DIANA.I am using it for prediction of damage in old masonry buildings due to tunneling operations. This software is the best I hv used so far with modelling capabilities for seismic,geotechnical,hydraulic and tunneling problems.

    experience does not help in getting good grades/grades but should help one identify what to study in order to pursue particular career path.

    Pier Luigi Nervi (June 21, 1891 – January 9, 1979) was an Italian engineer. He studied at the University of Bologna and qualified in 1913. Dr. Nervi taught as a professor of engineering at Rome University from 1946-61. He is widely known as a structural engineer and an architect, and for his innovative use of reinforced concrete. Attached is the pic from on his structures. Roof of multipurpose hall,material is RCC.

    Yeah it is possible if Designer is involved in supervision and has authority, appropriate materials and skilled labour to implement his design .
