  1. Later versions of Etabs auto meshes frame elements as well at location of joints by default.
  2. Hello, what is the correct way of modelling something like this? Normally I would keep them in one line but due to geometry restrictions I cant align them in model. Initially I was using rigid links to connect the highlighted column with the two beams but that increases base shear value significantly for some reason. So now I use cantilever beam to connect the two, however I was wondering if there was a better way to do this?

  5. Thank you for your answer. So as I understand if foundation is safe against dynamic load cases then that should be enough. I could conservatively check for static case as well but that is optional to design engineer. However I have noticed that response spectra case produces positive base reaction values while static load case gives negative values as well.
  6. I was designing high rise building and designed the piles and pile cap on dynamic load cases (RSx, RSy). However the vetting engineer told me to check pile reactions in static cases as well (EQx, EQy). Now I have confusion as to why i should check pile reactions on static case when code tells me to do dynamic analysis on structure? The vetting engineer couldnt give me satisfactory explanation, that is why i turn here. Thank you.
