Dear friends, Can any body share some examples on dynamic analysis to calculate earthquake forces on buildings. Need information how to make number of modes and what should be the scale factor? Regards Sohaib

AOA Fellows. Can we perform RSA on two story building have vertical irregularity in zone-2? What should be the preference of desinger, shear wall to avoid it or go for RSA ?

I need some guidelines regarding design of Shear Wall in ETabs. I have attached Design Detail of one of the pier of a 30 story building in Islamabad. this pear is at the basement and the analysis is "Dynamic". I have a feeling that the flexure reinforcement required is too little for this type of structure. In most of the cases flexure reinforcement is either controlled by the spacing requirements or the confinement requirements of Boundary Element. The analysis is based on UBC-97. Obj.Docx

Dear all, 1. Do we need to scale Time History Records for Linear analysis? Like we do in RSA? 2. How can we model a damper staying in linear analysis domain? as I am working a tall building for which I am not interested to go Non-Linear domain as this is part of my masters dissertation.

Some one asked me abt dynamic analysis and when we need to perform dynamic analysis and what about seismic irregularities and how to base our design on that. I couldnt reply but right now there is power shut down in my office (im enjoying it). So thought to share the reply on sepakistan.com so its openly available for everyone. I took snap shopts from my mobile. This document is the seismic symmary from SK gosh. Then there r some pages abt irregularities from my fav book abt tall structures. I think these pics speak more than i know. So have a look at them.
